Instructions: virtualization Acronis tib image in VMware Player without VMware Converter

Preliminary

Why not use the VMware Converter?
VMware Converter Standalone client can not restore Acronis Images. The server can, but unfortunately it was on my Windows 7 host difficulties with the connection to the locally installed server, so I was the Image with access to the tib file not recognized at an impasse steckte.Selbst; probably the Acronis version with which this image was created, not supported. Why not return back up the image from the host via a network share or a USB drive? With Acronis True Image Home 10 (not 2010), the predecessor of Acronis True Image 2009 can not access from Windows 7 provided network resources to. From True Image 2009 is possible. In addition, True Image 10 crashed in accessing the USB hard drive, so that this way was blocked to existing tib image. In a new VM virtualization of an existing system to achieve, of course, other ways as possible. Benefits of the procedure described here , you will also work • if access to a tib image due to lack Acronistreiber via network or USB devices is not possible • without installation of the VMware converter • without installing additional software, no network and optical drive, if the ISO prepared with the tib image and the Acronis Recovery Image and everything stores together with the VMware Player on a USB hard drive , the ISO with the tib image may still be on a USB or network drive, as in the procedure described here of VMware Player the file from the USB or network drive makes it accessible and not a driver of Acronis True Image. Prerequisites / preparations for virtualization requires: • VMware Player (with the VMware workstation does this approach of course) • ImgBurn (Freeware) http: //www.imgburn.com/ (or any other burning software that can create large ISO images) • Full backup as a * .tib file a division into smaller units is not required. • Sufficient hard disk space on the target computer for the VM to the vmdk, take the .tib file and the ISO image which is three times as much hard disk space is required as the system to be virtualized is occupied. • Acronis True Image Recovery medium (preferably as a .ISO file) , if necessary , Create the appropriate tool from Acronis. Caution: The medium / ISO image must be of the same Acronis version (or higher), such as those with which the disk image has been created. A physical medium requires longer charging times and, of course, an appropriate drive on the host. Step 1: * .tib file in * .iso file convert 1. ImgBurn start . 2 If necessary, about fashion / EZ Mode Picker menu select (The EZ Mode Picker is usually started automatically at startup) . 3 Option "Create Image file from files / folders" Select . 4 Right in the "Options" in the "File System" UDFauswählen . 5 In "Advanced" tab, open the tab "Restrictions" and then the "Allow Files Exceeding Size Limit" to "Multiple extents" questions . 6 Left click below on the icon / button for Image creation . 7 Select the location and name of the image file . 8 If necessary, Choose label for ISO and click the dialog with the OK Summary Step 2: VMware machine for the image create . 1 Call VMware Player and select "Create a New Virtual Machine". . 2 Option "I want to install the operating system later" select . 3 The Select the .tib secure operating system . 4Designate VM and specify location . 5 Sufficiently large virtual hard disk for the rückzusichernde System Create . 6 Button "Customize Hardware" button . 7 By selecting the pre-configured CD / DVD drive "Use ISO image file" to the ISO with the .tib file mount . 8 About Button create "Add ..." an additional CD / DVD drive and for it to "Use ISO image" the ISO of Acronis Recovery CD mount (recommended) or specify a physical drive for the additional CD / DVD-drive and the Acronis Recovery medium load (requires longer charging times and, of course, a corresponding drive)

Note: The order of drives intended to be booted from which Image. In default drive so the ISO must be mounted with the Acronis disk image. The VM boots namely behind the additionally created drive.
9. Create a virtual machine with "Finish" to complete Step 3: VM Image Restore . 1 VM restart . 2 VM boot from the Acronis Recovery CD . 3 True Image (full version) Select . 4 Restoring click . 5 CD / DVD drive with the .tib file filter . 6 Select .tib file . 7 Perform the Recovery After restoring all the drivers are automatically found and installed. VM-Ware Tools can be installed and unnecessary drivers and the like are removed. Notes The idea for this approach comes from here . This forum is apparently no longer active (Last post December 2009). But that described therein Tool Folder2Iso obviously can not create oversized Images and failed at creating the ISO image with an approximately 50GB large tib file (without error message!). Test environment: virtualization of an IBM T43 (80GB HDD, 60GB is) on a current PC (i7, 8 GB) with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit successful and lasted for about 1 hour until the first successful boot.
